Persuasive Ad Text
Getting your message seen is tough enough, but doing it with nothing but 70 characters or less is a daunting task. A Google ad has two lines of 35 characters each directly below the headline. Hopefully your headline has grab the users attention an now they decide to read the text of your ad. You must not only convince the reader that what you have written has value and that you have something more to offer them but your ad must also motivate them to click.
Before you set out to create a Google AdWords ad you must first completely understand your product or service that you are selling whether or not it is a product of your own making or an affiliate product that you promote. The more you know about the product the easier it will be to create quality ads that reach your target audience. Start out by making a list of everything your product does that could be of interest to potential buyers.

Go through your list and write out what benefit the customer derives next to each item. What do the gain? The two columns of your list are not comprised of the same thing; one is a feature and the other is a benefit. A feature of a printer is that it can print 35 pages per minute but the benefit is that you will not have to wait for your printed papers thereby increases productivity. A diet drink can have a feature of zero calories but the benefit is that drinking it won't add to your weight.

Learn about your competitions product and note all the ways yours is different and better than theirs. If you have a product that does something a similar product can not do then you can write your ad in such a way that it can stand out from theirs. You must also have a clearly defined target audience in mind before you can write your ad. Knowing to whom your ad is directed is key to reaching qualified buyers.

After you have done all of the above begin to write the ad text, keeping in mind to focus on the benefits more so than the features and don't use unnecessary words. Be as specific as you can and avoid vague generalities. If you sell Dodge auto parts, an ad that said "Dodge Truck Parts" would get a more targeted hit than if it just said "Auto Parts".

Write in a clear, concise manner that is easy for everyone to understand and keep your text to a minimum. Instead of writing "Buy one dinner, get another free" you could write "Two For One Price". Be honest in what you write and avoid puns or play on words. Don't take a chance that someone will understand what you wrote in the few seconds the person is skimming over the page.
